Stage 1 set to test contenders

MONACO (AP) - The Tour de France is ready for another edition with Lance Armstrong, and today's opening stage may show whether he's ready to challenge for another title.Armstrong's 37-year-old legs will be tested immediately when the three-week race begins with a 9.6-mile time trial. The stage will be run along the hilly streets and hairpin turns of Monaco, a Mediterranean principality better known for Formula One than for huffing two-wheelers.Click here for full article

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) - Five-time champion Roger Federer reached his seventh consecutive Wimbledon final Friday and will face Andy Roddick for a chance at a record 15th Grand Slam title.Federer delivered a masterful grass-court performance to beat Tommy Haas 7-6 (3), 7-5, 6-3, extending his winning run to 18 consecutive matches and closing in on the mark he shares with Pete Sampras of 14 major titles.Click here for full article

DEVO draws stars to short track

For a simple local short track circuit Wednesday nights, the Animas Orthopedic Associates and Durango DEVO weekly races are drawing a lot of attention from a lot of big names.Travis Brown, a former Olympian and two-time singlespeed world champion, and Andy Schultz, the 2007 cross country U23 national champion, raced to an A men's first-place photo finish in Wednesday's fourth short track cross country race of the season. Tiger nabs 'greedy' lead

BETHESDA, Md. - Tiger Woods lived up to his hopes of being a "greedy host" Friday when he salvaged his round during a shaky stretch and shot 4-under 66 to take a one-shot lead at his AT&T National with the lowest 36-hole ever at Congressional.Woods was at 10-under 130, breaking by one shot the previous 36-hole record set last year by Tom Pernice Jr. and Jeff Overton. Woods had a one-shot lead over Rod Pampling, who had a 64 to boost his chances of qualifying for the British Open.Click here for full article
